Mr Ajit B. Jain, BE (Mech) from Pune, worked as Managing Director of Jain Plastics and Chemicals Limited, establishing a new pipe production plant at Sendhwa from 1985 to 1990. Appointed Director in 1993, he has been Joint Managing Director of Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd since 1998, overseeing micro irrigation systems, the pipe division and the marketing of plastic products. With a technical background, Mr Jain has significantly contributed to drip irrigation development in India, managing production, administration and global marketing of drip irrigation, PVC pipes, PE pipes and speciality fittings, including adaptation of drip technology and integration of acquired entities.

Ajit Jain is the honorary secretary of DRIPMA, an active member of the National Horticulture Mission and Vice President of the Association for Improvement in Production and Utilization of Banana (AIPUB). He has significantly advanced horticulture in India by promoting micro irrigation, especially for bananas. Ajit pioneered hi-tech banana cultivation under drip irrigation and advocates precision agriculture globally.
